Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (2023)

Although one of the newtypes of personalities, conceited villagers enterwildthey are perhaps one of the most diverse and well-defined groups of villagers in the game. Her "holier than thou" attitude is only skin deep, as her overall personality makes her very likable and loving. His designs are also among the best in the game; though some of them do venture into strange territory that falls incredibly flat.

To me, conceited villagers are almost mandatory in every town in the world.wild. ComNew HorizonsNow, why not take a look at some of the designs and personalities found in this group of villagers, both good and bad? Here are the five best and worst snooty villagers.Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

propaganda

Worst Snooty Villager: Eugene

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (1)

coalasinsidewildthey are not the strongest type of animal in the game. Personally, for me, there are very few outstanding koalas that can be talked about both positively and negatively. However, Eugene is one of those exceptions and falls into the latter category for me.

Eugene defines "show off" with his appearance. The black sunglasses, greasy jacket, sideburns, and crooked smile certainly set him apart from the other villagers. The problem is that Eugene looks like an Elvis wannabe; He poses for cool style above anything else.

propaganda

It's not just a bitter impression that depresses Eugene in the end. It certainly doesn't help that he's more aggressive than most of the cocky villagers. He often seems vain and flaunts the womanizer card harshly while he tries to compose love songs for the villagers or the player. In a sense, this may seem cuddly, but when a stranger looks on, Eugene almost has a stalker vibe as he courts another animal.

Best Smug Villager: O'Hare

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (2)

Ah, the Irish rabbit. O'Hare is awildUnique for being one of the few villagers found in the game's first US release, provided you have a Game Boy Advance. Look, the firstwildwas crossplayed with Advance, allowing the player to travel to their ownprivate tropical island🇧🇷 A lone villager and other supplies would be found there, including the elusive coconut trees.

propaganda

O'Hare was one of several villagers from this group of islanders who would survive into the modern games. Today he takes on the petulant personality that he was first given.New page– and was all the better for it. Above all, what sets O'Hare apart is the theme and design of it; is, unapologetically, a reference to several different sources. Some say that he is an incarnation of Peppy.star fox🇧🇷 Others point out that its name is a reference to O'Hare International Airport. Realistically, it's just a small touch to make O'Hare stand out more, like every other villager on the island at the time.

Regardless of his origins, O'Hare has been a permanent villager for nearly 20 years, and his character design has always been simple yet striking. With his Hawaiian shirt and straw hat hiding a lock of blond hair against his tanned skin, O'Hare is by no means the cutest bunny in the game. However, the appearance of him is more realistic compared to some of the fancier rabbits to be found, which is sometimes very helpful.wildto stand out among the strange colored beasts that populate the world.

Worst Snooty Villager: Pietro

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (3)

I will say this, I hate clowns. Clowns are rarely funny, they are always scary, and I find them constantly unpleasant. A red nose is a good "hit me" sign; Clowns suck, and the less we see of them in games, the better.

Then you have Pietro... ugh.

propaganda

Okay, it's not Pietro's fault to make him look like a clown, it's actually Nintendo's fault. The fact is that Pietro is annoyingly loud and it seems ridiculous as a villager that what sets him apart is what makes me want to kick him off my island. Heck, I think Nintendo was okay with this, since Pietro was one of the few villagers to get a complete redesign.New Horizons.

His new appearance is an improvement... slightly, but it still doesn't change the fact that you have a smug sheep in the game. Pietro is often maligned as a poster child for bad design; Trust me, there are worse things out there.wild🇧🇷 Still, it's not hard to look at his dead eyes and soulless smile and not stop hitting him in the nose with a net.

Best smug villager: Raymond

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (4)

Raymond is one of them.new villagersinsideNew Horizons, and is currently arguably the most popular animal in the game. The cocky feline became an instant fan favorite thanks to her business casual attire and unique trait of having heterochromic iridium; or two eyes of different colors.

All of this makes Raymond stand out, but apparently his cocky villager demeanor is also comfortable. Raymond is less condescending than other cocky villagers, he constantly flirts with the player and is also courteous to other villagers. This makes Raymond a good fit for any island.New Horizons...if you can find it.

propaganda

Since Raymond is a new character, acquiring him is incredibly difficult, as there is no amiibo card available that guarantees he will visit your island. Raymond is so popular on the sites that peopleVillager Tradefor himBells or Nook Mile Tickets, often charges the highest prices to "buy" it for his island. Other than that weird way of trading, she just goes to show how popular Raymond really is; the most expensive friend currently available in the game, as assumed bywildcommunity.

Worst Snooty Villager: Hippeux

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (5)

hipposinsidewildthey are strange ducks. For one thing, they're a fairly uncommon species for villagers, which makes them somewhat rewarding to find. On the other hand, they all have the same problem as koalas of not being really noticeable, with a few exceptions. Hippos like Bubbles or Rocco come to mind as good examples of the species. However, hippos like Hippeux are... the bottom of the barrel.

Hippeux looks like a high school student through and through. Wearing a flashy blazer with vomit green skin tones draws attention, certainly in a very gross way. Hippeux also has an odd lock of hair on top of his head that really throws the design off balance. I understand that it is to show the short and clean hair, but the hair of the villagers for mewildit rarely works when it is too similar to real life styles and is only successful when the style naturally has tons of hair.

The worst thing about Hippeux is his name. It's literally a fake French version of this guy. Now that is presumptuous behavior. Most ironically, however, Hippeux is apparently not his real name. The ones who play the phone gameAnimal Crossing: Pocket CampYou can get Hippeux to admit that his real name is Gary.

Gary... the hippo. So he is pretentious and a liar. Not good qualities for a villager.

Best Smug Villager: Lopez

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (6)

One of the best newwildand theRehTypes of villagers. Many of the deer we see look elegant and dynamic, and with a few exceptions, all are exceptionally designed. However, one of my favorites is Lopez, the smug antelope.

Yes, I said that right, antelope.wildhas a habit of associating rare and exotic animals with specific animal species. In this case, although López is in the deer category, his design clearly represents an antelope or gazelle, right down to the color of his fur and the placement of the antlers. While it looks just like real life, it helps Lopez stand out more with a unique design that the other deer can't replicate.

Like most of the cocky villagers, Lopez is friendly but self-assured. Unlike most of the cocky villagers, he rarely flirts with the other player and only seems to do so when they are female. These little tweaks to typical smug behavior are interesting, and I hope Nintendo does this more often with general personalities in future games. From the looks of it, Lopez is one of a kind from him, and part of that uniqueness makes for a cool and attractive design.

Worst Smug Villager: Olaf

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (7)

I noticed a pattern when it comes to complacent villagers. The more preppy or high-end they are, the more off-putting their designs become. Take Olaf, for example. Visually, it's not terrible; A dark brown anteater is a nice change of pace from somethingcolorful anteaterswe had in the past. However, Olaf falls into the same trap as Eugene, since he is a fake character. In this case, he is a Spanish bullfighter.

OK, some people say it's more like Michael Jackson. To me though, the gaze seems to stray from the King of Pop more than anything else. Greasy curly hair falling over his face, darker, tanned skin, the movements we see of Olaf point to bullfighting, not moonwalking.

All said...why? Once again, the unique layouts are a cool feature.wild, but Olaf is the poster child for complacency here. He just exudes the more negative traits found visually in stuck-up villagers. It also doesn't help that it's repulsive to talk to your character. Frankly, Olaf is too cocky for his own good, and for a group of personalities where that's his trick, that's saying something!

Best Smug Villager: Julian

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (8)

Julian is fabulous! No, seriously, it's him. There is no hidden context in his speech or words, he is always super lively, friendly and hip whenever you talk to him. I'm not trying to suggest any form of sexuality for characters in a child's game, but if the villagers were thinking about these things, I think it would be obvious which team Julian plays for.

It really comes down to his personality being almost unusual from other cocky villagers. Julian is rarely cocky, except when he's talking about harmless things like internet followers or fashion. He is always friendly and always flirtatious, regardless of the player's gender. In fact, much of Julian's personality matches Snooty's meaner personality better than anything else. That certainly makes it more unique on this side of the coin.

That's part of what sets him apart and why he's one of the best-designed villagers in the game. The other part is that he is a unicorn. I mean, it's obviously obvious with the horn, but his flowing mane that almost obscures the mascara on his eyes complements him really well. It's all about getting the right look and personality, and that allows Julian to not only stand out among the horseswildbut also as one of the best drawn villagers.

Worst Snooty Villager: Rodney

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (9)

i hate hamsters🇧🇷 Not really. They are arguably the worst animal species inwild🇧🇷 All the hamsters in the game are ugly. I can't even pick a favorite of them; Each one of these chubby little monsters has a quirk or a design flaw or a bit of personality that I dislike immensely.

But if one hamster takes the cake for bad design, it's Rodney. The sad, desolate eyes, the sickly blue skin, the pink hair... Rodney looks like a chubby teenager who couldn't get over the loneliness of Friday nights; a sad sack of an animal that wants attention out of pity rather than respect.

Speculation about the self-esteem of a fictional creature aside, Rodney is simply the quintessential ugly character. He doesn't seem smug, there's a little "gentleman" when it comes to Rodney. In fact, he looks and acts like a bratty preschool monster. Rodney is just bad design. Bad even by the incredibly low standards of hamster characters, and he'd say the worst cocky villager in the game.

Best Smug Villager: Marshal

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Best and Worst Smug Villagers (10)

debuted as quarterbackNew page, instantly became a fan favorite. What's not to like about a fluffy white squirrel with sad, angry eyes? Marshall's image is simple but perfect. What ultimately sells you is your eyes in direct contrast to your rosy cheeks or almost crooked mouth. The extra lock of hair on him is also a nice touch and, again, gives him a bit of character, which helps to match the eye design.

Marshal was the most popular male villager until Raymond's rise.wild🇧🇷 Like Raymond, Marshal is a collector's item, with his ownmarket priceMatching Raymond on tons of bells or miles tickets. Unlike Raymond, Marshal has an amiibo card, and it's one of the most expensive cards out there, with people spending hundreds of actual dollars to get it.

Let me say it again, real hundreds of dollars🇧🇷 It is a testament to how sought after the Marshal is and how well received his design is. I have to agree with the crowd, Marshal is arguably the best designed and cocky villager in the game.

So there you have it, the top five and worst smug villagers.Animal Crossing: New Horizons🇧🇷 Have we already chosen one of your favorites? Did we leave someone worthy on this list? Let us know below.
